California 4-H Youth Development Program
Communication Strategies

How does the State 4-H Office get stakeholder input?

1. Through various statewide committees:

  • Policy Advisory Committee (4-H policies and processes)

  • Program Advisory Committee ("big picture" program issues)

  • Incentives and Recognition Advisory Committee (awards, recognition)

  • Curriculum Advisory Committee (resources for 4-H youth development programs)

  • Citizenship/Service-Learning Advisory Council (citizenship programs, especially California Focus)

  • 4-H Computer Corps (technology programs, state website)

2. Through surveys, especially web-based (see www.ca4h.org)

3. Through informal feedback:

  • Q & A at trainings or meetings

  • Email us at fourhstateofc@ucdavis.edu (4-H Youth Development Program) or at cafourhfnd@ucdavis.edu (The California 4-H Foundation)

  • Call us at (530) 754-8518 (4-H Youth Development Program) or at (530) 757-8740 (The California 4-H Foundation)

How do we communicate to stakeholders?

  1. Website www.ca4h.org (updated weekly)

  2. "Updates": electronic "monthly news you can use" via the 4-H staff listserv and the 4-H volunteer listserv (you can subscribe by emailing your request to fourhstateofc@ucdavis.edu)

  3. Newsletters (4-H Youth Development Program and The California 4-H Foundation): disseminated electronically and in hard copy three times per year

  4. Policy or Program Memos (sent via email and hard copy to 4-H Youth Development Program staff and County Directors as needed)

  5. Statewide and regional trainings or meetings throughout the year
