4-H and the University of California

UC seal4-H is a program of the University of California. The USDA gives authority to the land-grant university in each state to administer the 4-H program. The land-grant universities in California are UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and UC Riverside. Within the University of California, the Division of Agriculture and Natural Science (DANR) has oversight of the 4-H program.

The UC Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) is split into three administrative regions. Each region has a Regional Director responsible for the county staff within their region.  All personnel decisions (hiring and firing), complaints, and other staff issues are handled by the Regional Director.

Regional Directors report to the Associate Vice President of DANR. See the full UC organizational chart here (PDF)
