State 4-H Leaders' Forum
The State 4-H Leaders Forum provides a weekend retreat for 4-H volunteers
across California to gather for networking, education, relaxation, and fun.
Volunteers of all ages, experiences, and locations share this opportunity to
further their volunteering "career," find new inspirations, and bring
new ideas home to their counties and clubs. The conference is sponsored by the
State 4-H Leaders' Council and the 4-H Section planning the conference.
Listen! Can you hear the surf? Feel the soft ocean
breeze? Do you feel the dual desires of doing your volunteer job better and escaping from the pressures of
life for just a little while? Then hearken to this call. We offer eight reasons why you should attend the State 4-H Leaders' Forum!
- Location – Come to the most beautiful place on earth where the land meets the sea.
- Location – Discover the Monterey/Carmel world with all its wondrous sights, historic sites, amazing
attractions, and unique shopping opportunities.
- Location – The Asilomar State Park Conference Grounds is the most affordable and comfortable way to
stay and enjoy the location.
- It’s where your friends and associates are – from your county, from the state. Remember those neat
people you met there (if you’re a returnee) or at 4-H State Leadership Conference or State Fair, etc? It’s likely that they’ll be there. And
they’ll be looking for you! For first timers, you will discover that this is an event where friendships are
made.
- You can get away (almost) guilt-free. You will be escaping your children and other devotions for a short
while, but doing it for their long-term benefit.
- Some of the best, most practical learning for 4-H leaders happens there. You’ll come home loaded with
ideas and activities and the enthusiasm to implement them.
- Your County 4-H Program becomes stronger because you went. You will return with a deeper
understanding of the 4-H mission, a stronger sense of what has to happen to accomplish it, and an
expanded capacity to make it happen.
- While you’re walking barefoot on the beach and gazing at the surf, you’ll realize that you’re multi-tasking
in practical ways with the best of them, and that includes bathing your senses, rekindling your spirit,
refreshing your mind, rejuvenating your body, and soothing your soul.

The South Section Forum Committee has been working hard to create a forum that will be a fun, stimulating and educational event.
The 2010 California State 4-H Leaders’ Forum that will have something for everyone; new leaders, experienced leaders, befuddled leaders, staff and parents. Come share your 4-H community service, outreach, fundraising, new projects, and any other ideas/activities with the 4-H leaders, staff and parents throughout the state of California and at the same time you can learn some new ideas to take back with you to your club and/or county.
This year the Forum Committee decided it's time to change our mind S.E.T., focusing on sharing ideas about the various ways that the 4-H Youth Development Program educates its members in the S.E.T. initiative, facilitated by volunteers, and staff. S.E.T. can be integrated into any existing project and into county events. There will be opportunities to listen to speakers, attend a wide selection of workshops, and enjoy entertainment. There will be additional activities to fit the needs and interest of every 4-H Leader, Staff or Parent, including friendly competition at the Silent Auction.
